Okay, guys, since the old forum and its posts are gone I want to make sure I'm not mistaken. Isn't it Norman B. Kenney that can be so nasty with exhibitors and dogs or am I mistaking the name for another judge. I don't want to give the guy the boot if I am mistaking the name, but I sure am not going to support a nasty judge with my dollars and my dogs. So straighten me out if I am making a mistake. Kenney is judging two shows in my driving area and we can just as easily NOT enter under him at Chesapeake and Beckley if he is the man I'm thinking about. We can show Beagles only and skip the Parsons entirely for those shows.

Norm Kenney is a RUDE SOB and I would not spit in his face if he were dying of thirst........is that a clear enough description of how I feel about him? Never shown a Parson to him but I have shown a Kuvasz to him and while his behavior towards me was ok, his behavior towards many other exhibitors at that same show as horrible. At the Boise, ID shows a couple of years ago he was so bad that he had one of the Parson exhibitors in tears and they reported him to the rep, for what that is worth (NOTHING!). Save your money and time, don't enter under him.

Julie Dalbey - AMEN!

This guy judged ES not long ago and told my friend (who is beautiful) what a gorgeous face she had and couldn't stop looking at her all day. He basically "hit" on her the entire weekend - to a point of being ridiculous. The Saturday evening of that show we saw him at a bar totally drunk with another woman. I have ZERO respect for this creep. Did AKC did anything about it? Nope!

I honestly couldn't tell you about how he judges, what I saw of him was enough to know I wouldn't if show under him!!!

Liz,

You have a good memory. I sent a letter dated 8/7/04 to the AKC Judging Operations Department to complain about Judge Kenney's conduct at the Palomar Dog Show held on 7/31/04. Judge Kenney violated AKC rules and procedures at that show by: (i) failing to properly judge Winners and Reserve Winners classes; (ii) failing to properly measure a dog; (iii) examining the entries in a rough manner; (iv) being in a rush and failing to spend sufficient time examining the dogs; and (v) losing control of himself by yelling at exhibitors and spectators during his judging. I asked that the AKC promptly investigate these incidents and suspend Judge Kenney for an appropriate period. The AKC did not respond to me.

Suzanne Tolleson, who has used the same handler as Judge Kenney (so I presume they know each other), sent a letter to the PRTAA board misrepresenting what happened at that show. I was never in the ring that day, since others showed my dogs. She was not there, so she had no first-hand knowledge of what transpired. Her information had to come from Norm Kenney. I presume that he told her an incorrect version of the truth to save his behind. I cc'd him, the PRTAA Judge's Committe, and the Palomar Kennel Club, so I am sure that he lied to all recipients about what transpired at the show. I heard that Suzanne's version was opposite to the facts -- that Judge Kenney threw me out of the ring for misconduct and was considering filing a charge against me with AKC. That is a not true.

Various members and non-members (Connie Presley, Pete Atchley, Ellen Wade, Diane Turner, Kasey Mando, Tania Kidd) were at the show and can verify what happened, since I sent them the draft to review and correct any errors. The details are documented in my 8/7/04 letter, which I am emailing to you privately.

The PRTAA did not present Suzanne's letter to my sponsors before the Board meeting that had my memberhip application on the agenda. They were not interested in a response from them, so apparently they were not interested in the truth either. The Board distributed Suzanne's letter to the Board members before the vote however so they would have her hearsay evidence. Moreover, I understand that they did not distribute my two Letters of Recommendation from Kathleen Reynolds and Steve Damron. It doesn't really matter, since the harm was already done.

The Board did not approve my Membership Application based on this fabricated story. I will not name that Board here, since the PRTAA has a different Board now. Kathleen resigned her Board position, because of this incident. Cindy Cunningham resigned as a committee person and as a member. That is why she gave me Julie, Wendy, and Joy.

The Board's actions in this matter are actionable in California. I have case law on this issue and California's "long-arm personal jurisdiction" statute is one of the best for dragging outsiders into our state for litigation. I considered suing, but my Mom had a stroke on 8/20/04 and I was busy taking care of her and her affairs. I had no spare time for litigation from then until she died last August 2006. It is too late now for that case.

Thanks, guys. I will NOT support a judge with my dollars or my dogs with this judge's repuation. I've received emails from many people who are telling me stories of his rudeness and mishanding both dogs and people. The ONLY influence exhibitors have in the AKC is voting against a judge by not entering under him. The way I see it if you enter under someone like this you are telling the judge, the AKC and the world you approve of his behavior. If missing one day of a show is so important that it influences my life in a negative way then I'd better take a hard look at my priorities.

BTW, I meant to put the man is judging Parsons at Clemson and not Beckley. We aren't entering either day of those shows, but will enter the other days.

I have a VERY short (only 2 judges) "do not show to under any circumstances" list. Kenney goes on it. I do expect judges to be professional with exhibitors and dogs. If they can't do that then I sure as heck refuse to support them. Thankfully, those kind of people are few and far between. The great thing about the AKC is there are enough judges so that no one has to show under someone like this.

Norm Kenny is the Judge for 2008. I wonder how many people won't be attending due to this man judging. ?

This would be the perfect opportunity to let the dog world know what we PRT people think of this abominable judge. Let's boycott! I have been every year for the past five years. 2008 appears to be my year to miss this show.

I recently showed under Norm Kenney in my backyard. He was rude, arrogant and seemed to be in a huge rush.

My boy had just finished so I moved him up just for the experience. Heck I could have showed a neutered dog to him as he never would have known. He barely went over the dogs. He never spanned the specials and maybe the class dogs/bitches but I wouldn't know because I didn't watch.

His lack of respect to the competitors and the dogs were awful. Next time I see him on a panel, I will save my money, time and stay home.

Sure must have caught him on a good day as he was very pleasant when I showed under him yesterday. Watched him early in the morning and he was all smiles and talking with spectators. He was still all smiles at 11 and later in the day during groups. He even seemed quite happy today.

Maybe he ate a bunch of good Wisconsin Cheese and it warned his spirits.

I watched this RUDE SOB ruin a MinPin puppy at a Boston show afew years ago and put the newbie exhibitor in tears. it was their 1st show.

She will never show again............................. she said that day and has not since.

I have never wasted my money on this SOB and have sat there and watched him in action ! ! ! ! No thank you.
Not me or any of my dogs will intentionally be subjected to this SOB....
