HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE NOVEMBER 9 & 10TH, 2009 MEETING
New York, NY - Highlights from the November 2009 meeting of the AKC
Board of Directors are as follows:
*
* Effective March 1, 2010, dogs competing in Earthdog Events will
be able to earn an Earthdog Endurance Title (EE). It would be awarded
when a dog, on five occasions, passes both the Senior and Master Test at
the same event.
This does not, however, address the issue of "grandfathering" in prior Iron dog titles. We will need to check on this as the PRTAA did give input on that issue. This is a good thing for those of us who have ME dogs and do or do not run Iron dog when it essentially meant little title wise up to this.

Get the heavy duty cage ready for Emma and find Rowdy for Penelope. The girls have been practically screaming at me about their retirement after earning their masters. This is really great news for all the masters dogs out there who just love to play the game! Now I just have to have a discussion with Penelope about that recall in seniors...

Liz, we have to dust off some oldies and bring them back out - Dude would love to do this all over again! It will get costly next year but should prove for some very entertatining ED tests! Did you see the SAC Bee article on Sat.'s ED - it was awesome.

Oh Peggy that is great! Luca has really enjoyed the 'game' but now it gives a whole new meaning to Irondog. We'll have to work even harder on Luca's honoring..he's always first to the tunnel, and just hates to give it up and honor his brace partner. _________________ CH Rocky Point Final Fury ME

I understand in ther application process there is credit given to "grandfathering in prio Iron Dog legs". I guess we wll wait to see the wording. For my kids, I don't have any G'fathered in "to be legs" as I did not run Iron Dog as I opted not to do it for nothing and risk issues with my dog/other dogs. We will bring the oldies back out next year - should make for some very interesting tests! Some of mine can cover ground you would not believe!

I have now viewed the application and you are allowed to grandfather in 4 iron dog documented titles on one day. Also, after you reach the 5 to earn an EE, you can go for another 5 and earn an EE2, another 5 an EE3 and I guess as long as you compete and spend the $$, keep going with EE#'s.
